April Showers

Last weekend I had my wedding shower in Sauk City, WI thrown by Heather and Sue. It turned out wonderfully! Although the weather didn’t always cooperate the weekend was great. Heather flew in from North Carolina and her and Sue put on a great party. There was a great turnout, awesome decorations, delicious food, and marvelous gifts.

Here are a few pictures from the shower

Weather

I am ready for skirt weather. I have a closet full of fun skirts and dresses that I love to wear, and I think it is time. So yesterday I put on a dress to wear to work. I left the apartment without a coat since I left it at school Friday afternoon. Well it was snowing... So I am wearing a skirt, no coat and walking into school in the snow.
This sucks.

~67 days to go until the wedding~

DIY Wedding

Spelling is not my thing. It never has been, and I am well aware of this downfall. Since I have struggled with spelling since elementary school, I have gotten used to asking other people to proof read important documents; Not only for spelling, but other typos or errors. For example Jon reads through my cover letters before I submit a job application.

Well when it comes to wedding documents I have been particularly concerned about errors. Jon and I looked at the wedding invites probably dozens of times before printing out over 100 of them. (Hopefully there are no errors) Last weekend we worked on putting together the wedding programs. They are not regular programs and consist of lots of paper, printing, cutting and assembling. Thanks to Sarah and Sadie for spending hours with me cutting and now I am happy to say Jon and I finished them all!

Before printing I showed the sample copy to 7 people and told 5 of them specifically to read through to make sure there were no errors. There were a few things that needed to be changed and I took care of that. Well after cutting out about 2/3’s of them it hit me. An error that half of my proofreaders would not have even known was a problem. I used the WRONG LAST NAME for one of your readers, my aunt. I was really upset about it, but in no way willing to start over after hours and hours of work. It isn’t like I used a random name it is her maiden name, but I really should have been the one to catch this so I just feel bad. It was an honest mistake; I have known her by her maiden name for 24 years so it slipped my mind that she doesn’t go by that anymore. I will have to personally apologize to her and her husband for the oversight and think it will be fine in the end.

Yesterday I realized I did not put on my personal attendant on the program, but am not really that upset. It may have been my subconscious not wanting it on there, since I have concerns that she will flake and not show up to the wedding.

The point of the story… none. I made an error, it will stay that way and I hope there will not be any more along the way. Although realistically I should probably expect some more minor bumps on the DIY road…

Upcoming Do It Yourself projects for the wedding include: (hopefully done this weekend)
-Decorated Vases for the head table
-Card Box (Jon has been working on this for weeks now, one small step at a time)
-Center Piece Bases
