Summer Weddings

I love weddings. Going to them is always fun. You get to see a couple so happy and excited. Everyone all dressed up. Also a nice meal and a usually a fun dance, sometimes even free drinks! This summer I am going to be in a wedding and this is the first time I have not been excited to go to the wedding. Don’t get me wrong I am honored to be asked to be a bridesmaid and thrilled my friend is getting married because she is so happy. I am concerned about a few things with this wedding.
First the shoes! I attached a picture. They are very cute, but impractical. I rarely wear high heals, simple because I will fall. These are three inches high and not very wide. They also have a few thin straps across the foot that are not comfortable at all. As you can see they a dyed beautifully to match the seafoam dress, so not likely I will wear them again (cost of the shoes $70)
SO this brings me to the cost, I know weddings are expensive, I just am particularly feeling the money add up when I am trying to live of student loans.
Dress $120
I am sure the dress is nice, but really I don’t feel good about wearing it at all. But I guess that is what bridesmaid dresses are all about.
Shoes $70
Already mentioned above
Alterations $75
The bride wanted the dress to be T-length style and it wasn’t therefore I have to get the bottom of the dress chopped off and sewn.
Bridal Shower Gift $10
Ok so I went really cheap on this, but it was right before I got my latest loan check and was living on nothing but credit cards. It was still nice, I promise!
Gas Money at least $50
My friend getting married lives in St. Cloud with is about and hour and a half away. I have traveled there to meat the wedding party, pick out dresses, pick up dress and go to tailor shop, bridal shower, and go pick up dress from tailor shop. And I know there are more trips to come!

So this is my list so far, still need to get a wedding gift, get my hair done, go to the bachelorette party and chip in for the brides stuff (we are going to Valleyfair and out to dinner). So my total will continue to grow over the next month until the wedding.

So it appears I am complaining a lot about this wedding, but I just needed to vent. Especially since I went to meet the bride today to pick up my dress at the tailor in St Cloud and she never showed up!

Summer So Far...

Well I have been done with my student teaching for about a week and a half now. I thought I would have a lot of free time and really enjoy my summer, so far no luck with that!
I started my two summer courses last Monday and have been very business with them ever since. The classes are condensed into a four week session which is good, but unfortunately makes the work load pretty large!

Other than school I have also been busy on the weekends. Two weekends ago one of my classmates had a party to celebrate the completion of our school year which Jon and I attended. Some of my classmates are done forever, which I am jealous of but will get done soon enough. I also went to a bridal shower that weekend for a friend in St. Cloud
.
Last week I had another job interview this time in Blaine. I really really wanted this job, I felt the position had the perfect classes for me and it was a great location… but I didn’t get the job. Instead I was told they hired someone with a few years experience and wanted me to apply again next year. So I am still job hunting.

Last weekend Jon and I went to Black River Falls, WI for a wedding. His friend Vern from college got married. It was a nice wedding and a fun reception. I did not know many people there, but Jon appeared to have a college reunion with the number of people there from River Falls.

So that is what we have been up to lately.. Thought I needed an update since it has been a while. This weekend we are going to go to a St. Paul Saints baseball game which I am very excited about!!
