Student Teaching

Well I started teaching this week. It is the third quarter at the high school and I am teaching one class, personal finance. Fourth quarter I will be teaching two more courses, keyboarding and sports and entertainment marketing.
So far it has gone pretty well (only been two days). The class is supposed to have 30 kids, five were gone the first day and six the second day. So apparently attendance is going to be an issue. But so far the class has bee pretty well behaved which is great, since I wasn’t too ready to deal with a lot of discipline. I don’t have much to report so far, but I think it is going pretty well.

I did get some beautiful flowers from Jon on my first day!! Isn’t he great?

Fox Atticus Fischer

Joe and Sadie welcomed Fox to the world and our family on Sunday, January 21st. He was 6lbs 11 oz and 19 inches long. He is very cute and I am very excited to spoil my new little nephew. Jon and I went to visit the newly expanded family in the hospital last night. We both got to hold Fox (Jon was a little nervous bit did very well). Fox was a great baby barely cried and mostly slept calmly while were we around. Here are a few pics of the cute little guy.

Puzzles

Last week Jon and I started a puzzle we got from my parents for Christmas. Not as easy as I thought it would be we did not finish until Sunday afternoon, with some added help from my little bro, Jerod. It had a lot of blue sky, with solid blue pieces.
Jerod came to visit for a night. During this time we somehow got him hooked on doing puzzles. After we finished our current puzzle, we went down stairs to the library (Yes our apartment building has a library filled with books and puzzles!) and picked out another puzzle to do. This one was done much quicker and completed by Monday night.
Jerod’s visit also included a friendly game of Trivia Pursuit Pop Culture between me, Jon, Jerod, Joe and Sadie. The winner was…… Jon! Jon’s knowledge of pop culture never ceases to amaze me. (that’s why I usually try to be his partner, but we didn’t play partners this time) Sorry Jerod, your losing streak continues.

So here are a few photos of our puzzle making…

Life outside the Apartment

You may have noticed I have not updated this blog very often this week. The simple reason is I actually had a few things to do. Sure it is nice to site around all day watch soaps and write blogs, but I was getting stir crazy.
This week I went to Sauk Centre to get my heat fixed, now I am ready for the cold weather with a working defrost!
Then Wednesday I started some online classes that I have this semester, and already took some tests. Next week the rest of my classes start, so that will be good.
Finally I spent Friday and Saturday trying to stay awake. I had to get up at 5am and 6am respectively. This was quite a shock to my system, that has enjoyed the 9am wake up! I spent Friday with high school students judging BPA competitions and supervising 40 students. Granted I was tired! Then today I had to go to an early morning exam, which is required to get my teaching license. 2 down, 1 to go. The worst part of the test was the timing. We had two hours to take the test, not a problem. I was done in 1 hour, but no one could leave the room. So for the next hour I sat and stared in silence.
The rest of this weekend will consist of watching playoff football games. the pregame has already started, so I gues thats my cue.

Baking

Jon and I are now expert bakers. Well we made a batch of cookies, so thats a start. We received several cooking supplies for Christmas and wanted to try them out. This also meant we went grocery shopping to fill up our cupboards! The following photos illustrate the baking!

Final Product

Friday my parents came down with a load full of my furniture and got to see our new place (while helping haul the furniture) So now we are really really getting organized at our new place. We now have kitchen chairs to sit on, a desk for the computer, and I have a dresser. Very exciting life, I know...
But I really like the place a lot...now just need to hang up some pictures on the walls.

(Note: we added some more pictures of Henry the Hippo below)

Chia Pet

We are not allowed to have any pets in our new apartment. So Jon and I decided to buy a Chia Pet in December. This week we planted the seeds on Henry the Hippo and he is already growing...

Pasta Express

This week Jon and I have been enjoying all of our new Christmas presents. We watched new movies on our new TV. We wore new clothes and jewelry. We purchased bathroom accessories with our gift cards and cash. I have displayed my Barbies right next to the newly planted Chia pet. Finally we have made pasta...with the Pasta Express. It worked very nicely. Here are a few pictures to display the experience.

Jacque and Jon at the Hazelwood Family Christmas
Check out the rest of our two weekend Christmas celebrations at Christmas 06.

Welcome

Since so many of our friends and family are far away from our new home in St. Paul, we decided to start up this blog. We want to keep everyone up to date on our always thrilling lives! Actually I love taking pictures and will use this blog to post the pictures that exhibit what we are up to. (and I will try to get Jon to post also..)
