Still Ticking

I haven’t written much lately (much to the Beav’s dismay). The truth of it is I am kind of busy. Taking several classes plus teaching takes a bit of a toll on me, but I am trying to keep smiling!! This week my advisor from the U came to visit my class at the high school. I was really nervous about it, and actually had several bad dreams leading up to the observation. I was concerned that no one would pay attention, or maybe start talking a back, or that I really didn’t know what I was trying to teach. Fortunately it went great!! (Thanks to all my worrying I am sure) My advisor gave me a great review about my lesson plan, teaching and classroom control! So since that happened on Tuesday I have been sailing along fine this week. And tomorrow is Friday, almost completed 4 weeks of teaching.

Last night Jon and I FINALLY got to use the pool and hot tub in our apartment building. We have been waiting since we moved in to use it, it was being repaired. It was a lot of fun and relaxing. So if anyone wants to visit we now can offer you a dip in the pool as well as a stop in at our library!

Another Update Requested

First.... Sorry to say this but Henry the Chia Hippo....is dead. He passed on quite a while ago. He death was due to a large increase in growth that was too heavy for him to hold up, then a odd green growth started occuring on his body (mold) It was at this point that Jon and I had him put down. Luckly he will relive again in the future (as we have extra seeds) Sorry I did not mention this earlier, it was just too hard to talk about.

Next... as fo the TV infomertcial purchase. It is a sucess. The Express 101 can make 101 things!! We have already made breakfasts, lunches, dinner and desserts!! We made omlets, hashbrowns with eggs and sausage, pizza pockets, turkey wraps, marinated chicken breasts, garlic toast, and chocolate cake! Here is a photo of the Express 101 with the cooked chicken breasts. Definatly worth the money!! Hopefully I can get Jon to order the Magic Bullet next.... might be hard since he know turns the channel pretty quickly at the sight of any infomercial.

Update Requested

The Beav wants to hear some teaching stories. Well nothing to crazy has happened so far, which is good. I did get a few new students and I would love to comment about their names, but I am afraid the names are unique enough that they would find this if googled.
I do now know all of the student’s names… Only had a minor set back when I called one student by the wrong name for two days, I thought he was somebody else and therefore completely embarrassed myself towards the special ed staff talking about the wrong kids.

I have been able to handle the few smart-alecs so far… It may not seem like it but I am pretty tough, I can hold my own. After teaching swimming and lifeguarding for 8 years I have had my share of problem kids and I don’t take crap.

Of course most of the kids are great and pay attention. Some of them look sooo bored, and sometimes fall asleep. But overall I really like my class.

We had our first quiz last week and this week even watch Oprah!!
I often tell Jon what is going on with the kids and he has determined he is completely out of touch with kids these days! He laughed at my and gave me looks when I took out my star stickers when grading homework. But the students who received the stars loved them!! So I guess this means Jon is getting old… Fortunately I am still young (and maybe in touch)!
