$249 Sale

Well Saturday was quite the morning. Sarah and I went to the Minneapolis convention center for the $249 Wedding Gown Sale. We arrived around 8:30am and it started at 10:00. There were already quite a few people in line so we sat down and chatted for an hour and a half waiting for the chaos. Both of us were concerned about the crazy bridezilla fighting for dresses, but everyone was really nice which was great. We ending up being the first group of people allow in (only 35 brides were allowed at a time). We rushed to the racks that contained my sizes and started picking out dresses to try on. We were told we could only take 5 dresses at a time to the dressing area. It didn’t take us long to find enough to try on. We went to the dress area. It was not individual dressing rooms but a large curtained off area for everyone to change. There were several clothing racks for you to hang the dresses on and then 5 large mirrors in the middle.
Thank goodness I had Sarah with me!! She helped me get the dresses on (they are pretty heavy!) She also ran back to the floor to pick out more dresses after I had tried on all of mine. There were a few really nice dresses and……I bought one!!!!
Yep after all this stress and searching I bought a dress off the rack for $249 and it is in my possession. I did have to pay $9 for the garnet bag so the total was $258.
Even when I bought the dress I was still stressing out about it. I even told Sarah “well if I change my mind I can always sell it on ebay.” But after 24 hours I am really becoming happy with my choice. It is a really beautiful dress (they almost all are). Since I have gone to several places to try on dresses I knew what styles I likes which help me choose more quickly. I will not have to wait to order it, now I can get it to an alterations shop soon!
Sarah took a few pics for me when we were waiting in line. I am so glad that she came with me!! We had a great time and she was so helpful.

Thats me in the pink sitting in line!

Dress Shopping

Although I was initially really excited to get out and go shopping for wedding dresses at the beginning of wedding planning. I have since determined it is not all its cracked up to be. Yes it is fun to try on a bunch of pretty dresses and shopping, well everyone knows I love that.
I just find this shopping to have too much pressure. Not pressure from the sales staff as they have all been nice, but internal pressure. Most dress shops have said it takes about 6 months to order a dress, plus I am going to have to alterations done. I am currently only 8 months away from my wedding date and feeling pretty stressed out about choosing a dress soon! I have found lots of great dresses but decisions have never been my thing.
I have gone to a few different dress shops now and found one major flaw in the wedding dress shops. Most stores to dot carry all of the sizes. They just have one dress of each style to try on. Then they expect you to order your size. Without trying on the correct size I have a hard time picturing if the dress will look nice or not. This is probably going to be the most expensive item of clothing I will ever purchase; I would at least like to try it on first.
Nearly every time I have gone dress shopping I come home feeling discouraged since I have yet to choose a dress. I have heard from many people that once you find the dress you know it. I haven’t had that ‘for sure this is it’ feeling yet and don’t know how many more places I have time to go to. I really only have time on the weekends. I did try to go one evening to look for dresses but no one could come with me and I ended up getting to know the sales clerk a little too much for my taste.
Anyway this is my rant about choosing a wedding dress…. It isn’t easy.
